Happy Birthday Mom

Today is my mom's birthday. She's not very old, so she has to be enjoying it. I didn't get her anything, not yet anyways. The plan was to make something with my pottery stuff, but with work, I haven't felt like doing anything when I get home. Don't worry mom, I haven't forgotten about you. She always has such a nice blog entry for all of her kids birthdays, and talks about the day we were born, well I wasn't there the day she was born, and since I was too young to remember the first day I met her, I'll tell you about the ealiest memory I have of her. I think she had run to the library and left all 6 of us kids at home for a couple of hours. We had in one of the bedrooms a big bed and bunk beds. We were jumping from the top of the bunks to the big bed across the room. I was only 2, so I'm not sure how I even go up there. Well I missed the bed and hit my head on the metal box spring frame. I remember the cops showing up and the fire truck, and the drunk neighbor lady across the street who held me on the front porch until mom got home. What I remember of mom, is her and grandma Annie at the hospital telling me I was ok while they stitched my head up. It was exciting enough that I remember the incident even though it was so long ago. So mom, thats the earliest memory I have of you, don't you wish you would have just let me cry when I was a baby and you were so tired? I never would have remembered! Thanks for being so good to us kids!

A Busy Week

This has been a pretty busy week. The cats went in on Tuesday to get fixed and have their front claws taken out. Adam got couches from his grandma for his birthday, so those were delivered on the same day. Also, I had to clean house and Adam had to finish grouting his grandma's entry. Wednesday the cats came home...drunk. And it was Adam's Birthday. To celebrate we went to the shooting range since he didn't get to shoot his guns while up north. I didn't shoot the new SKS, but I shot the AR and Glock*. Its surprisingly really fun to shoot them. Adam's mom, both the grandparent's and Leah came too. They didn't shot, but they enjoyed watching.
The cats have been couch potatoes this week. It's kind of nice not having to keep track of what Dea's into (the dark colored one) she gets into everything!

This is what Ellie does best, other than stink things up. She is 5 years old, so she is stubborn and set in her way. She has refused to use her temp kitty litter. But we called the vet, they gave us the go ahead to use regular kitty litter, so we're all happier today. Adam can smell EVERYTHING and is convinced Ellie did something in our bedroom. I can't smell it, but he swears its there. She's a good kitty. A pain sometimes, but a lot easier than kids.

Poor Walter didn't want to be left out either. So he got a bath. He smells so good now, and his fur is really soft. Everyone at work kept telling us he smelt kinda bad, and I don't think I have ever given him a bath, so it was definitely time. He hates the tub and the blow drier.

Oh, and of course Valentines day was Thursday. By then we were so worn out we cancelled dinner plans and went straight to pick up my present and then went home to watch a movie and make smoothies. I got a rug and a painting for my living room. They are both nice, but the painting is really cool! I'll post a picture of it after we have a chance to hang it.

We just haven't had a busy enough week, so we are going to make up for it this weekend and go skiing/boarding again. I can't wait. Lets hope it's warmer this weekend.

Northern Michigan

This weekend Adam, myself, David and Sarah and a couple of friends from church headed north. Walter and Leah got to stay with their grandparents. I'm sure they had a great time, Walter loves to run around and chase the kitties over there. They take good care of him, we always have to convince him to come back home with us.

We weren't expecting snow this weekend, so we took the trailblazer, which was a bad idea. We ended up getting a lot of snow. We did a lot of sliding. We went skiing/snowboarding Saturday night after sundown, and had a lot of fun. The next day when we got up, it was 3 below. Crazy as we are, we decided to stick with our original plans, to go back to the ski resort. It was a terrible mistake, even though it warmed up to 1 degree, we were miserable. We had good clothes, but our goggles kept freezing up and we couldn't see, and the slopes were so cold, they had turned to ice. It hurt really bad to fall on that stuff!

At least we had a warm place to go back to. Thanks Grandma Lois for letting us stay at your house!

This is the weather we drove in all weekend. Much better suited for the Jeep.

Adam's new birthday present, (the long one in the middle). We were going to shoot them up north this weekend, but it was so cold and there was so much snow, we would have never been able to get far enough off the road with just the Trail Blazer. Adam was so excited about them that he carried them around with him, at night he lined them up next to the bed, in the morning he lined them up in the living room.

When we got home our kitties and Walter were so happy to see us. Tomorrow is a big day for the kitties, they are getting declawed and fixed. They don't know it yet, I hope they forgive us.

For those of you who are still wondering, Walter still comes to work with us every day. And Pops hasn't sent Walter back to "The Cage," keep your fingers crossed for him. As long as he is a good boy, he might be able to pull this off. On Friday we had a couple guys into the Office to talk about the health insurance benefits, they brought pizza for the whole shop. Walter managed to get his fill, but he must not have gotten exactly what he wanted because when the gentlemen passed by my desk to say goodbye, Walter starting barking...(bad dog!) He's only supposed to bark at the people who aren't working, or the ones who skip work. He's still in training, really he should get 90 days to get it right! And after that, he should go straight to salary.
