My New Birthday Presesnt

My birthday is not until Saturday, but I got my present early. It's the coolest present in the whole world. I've wanted one of these since I was 12 and living in Texas. We saw someone throwing pots at the fair and that is all I have thought about since then. Last year I got a 26+ year old gift, this years present could possibly be just as old. My kiln had new components put on it 12 days before I was born and it works great! My wheel is going to take some practicing, but it's a lot of fun. My left hand and wrist are so sore. Don't ever get into a fight with a potter, you wouldn't know it, but they have to have really strong hands. I got exactly what I wanted for my birthday and even though it's really old, it is a really nice one. It's really heavy, it might have to stay in the middle of the driveway for a few days until we can get up the courage to take it into the basement.

Here's what I made tonight. I won't tell you how many I made and ruined.

They are beautiful. You're so talented. What a great gift for you. You need to get some strong friends over to help carry it to the basement.

Cool! Working on a wheel is hard! I took pottery in high school and was shocked at how difficult it is, and how strong you have to be! My finished products are lopsided and ugly. Haha. :-) My hands are definitely not strong enough. So cool though!

Can't wait to see all the stuff you'll be able to make now! Happy Birthday early! :-)

That is SO cool. Too bad it's so heavy, I guess I will have to come to you to try it.

By the way, I want you to make me something for MY birthday, OK?

A big bowl or something, with a really cool glaze. Better get practicing!

That's awesome Natalie! And in case I don't end up calling you on Saturday because I'm stuck under 20 feet of water and without electricity...HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I hope this counts. I'll do my best to call you if circumstances permit.

I know, me too. Obviously from my post. Haha. :-) It's scary, and I wish they were far away from there! Sheryl said they have a "plan". Being that they are going to put a mattress over the bathtub and sit in there to wait it out. They are sure to lose power and probably phone reception. But Supposedly text messaging may still work.

I don't like this at all.

Nat that is really cool. I can't wait to see what all you can make with it, and I'm with Rach, I want something for my Birthday, or Christmas since my birthday is so far away.
