Feeling Domestic

I have been feeling more domestic with the weather changing and the holidays just around the corner. Adam and I have been building fires in the fireplace and I have been cooking and cleaning the house more regularly. For those of you who know me, you know that's a big deal. I have had strange desires to bake. Yesterday I made Carmel apples, I had never made them before. I even cleaned the kitchen when I was done. They taste really good. My kitty loves the fire place. She likes to sleep right in front of it, so I put her bed there and she loved it.

Those caramel and chocolate drizzle apples looks very yummy. I bet you made the pretty dish too.

Growing up in a colonial period house from the 1700's, our dining room fireplace was a walk-in. My parents used the dining room as a gathering place. Once the cold weather came, they had a roaring fire going from the moment my father got up until bedtime each Sat. and Sun. The dogs and cats were spent all their time on the stone hearth as they loved the fire's warmth. I did my homework there, my mother did her handwork in the evenings at the table in there and my parents listened to classical music and read in there.

Unfortunately the fireplace in my house is a bummer as it draws all the heat from the house and up the chimney it goes. It doesn't throw out heat at all and it makes the second floor rooms smell. So, it never is used. If I could afford it, I'd have a gas one installed but then I'd have to have an ugly propane tank as we don't have natural gas around here.

YOur right, you cooking AND cleaning is a big deal! What's up with that? Hopefully for your sake and Adams the domestic feeling lasts for a while.

The apples look yum.

It must be the weather cuz I actually did some canning today. I cooked down one of our pumpkins and made a small batch of pumpkin butter. I have 4 or pumpkins to cook. I plan on canning some so I will have fresh pumpkin for pies this season....and...I totally relate to you, I am not one to hang out in a kitchen to cook and clean.

Wow, Nat! This is great! I also agree that the weather has something to do with it... yesterday, I did laundry, cleaned the house, made meat and vegetarian chili, then delivered some to Lori and Todd and Jason then went home and cleaned the mess, watched two movies throughout the day and almost finished a book! I'm liking this time change, too! Hope you have fun in Vegas!
