Halloween and Jack-O-Lanterns
Our neighborhood is mostly democratic, or more accurately, our side of the state. I get really sick of all the Obama signs in every yard, so I had to show a little Republican spirit. I was surprised how many kids were for McCain. I got mostly "Go McCain" and only one "ahem...Obama" (under their breath, but loud and clear). Sarah, David, Leah and Grandma Lois came over to help carve pumpkins. They were all so cute on my front porch, but as soon as David and Sarah left there were only these two lonely pumpkins. Adam didn't carve any, he was the scraper-outer. He scraped out everyone's pumpkins. It was so nice! And I made pumpkin seeds, which I love, but sadly found out they are not fun to eat warm when you have a mouth full of metal fillings. My teeth started to hurt right away, too much direct contact I guess, with them being flat, so I started swallowing them way too soon, and now they are scratching my esophagus. I had to wash them down with the nasty green juice Adam was drinking because I was too lazy to get up and get something normal to drink. We usually have tons of kids come by so we bought tons of candy. Not sure why there weren't as many kids this year, but we have lots of left-overs. Walter really enjoyed Halloween this year. He even helped himself to the candy. Wrapper and all. I'm going to have to keep it out of his reach or you know where he will be once Adam and I fall asleep! Yep, he's smart enough to wait for the perfect moment. All the trick-er-treaters thought he was so cute, and really tall like a horse. Some of them even ran away as soon as I opened the door. It was so funny to see 5 or 6 kids walk up to your door and run away as soon as you open it. I'm not sure where they were going to go, Walter is much faster than they are. He just ran around with them. It was really funny. The scardy cats wanted away from him, and he wanted their candy. So he stuck his face as far into everyone's candy bag as he could get. Next year he will get a costume; this year was too busy. Maybe I'll dress him as a horse since he sorta has the figure already. Hope everyone has a safe and fun Halloween.

Hmm.. not very many kids, eh? May have had something to do with the pumpkin's messages... *ahem*.. I'm just saying. ;-) hahaha. Just kidding.
I purposely turned our light off so I don't have to get up off my lazy butt to answer the door. haha.
Cute pumpkins... even if I'm an Obama fan. :-) Elephants are one of my favorite animals though (nice job on that one!), that will never change. :-)
Oh, and that little girl is adorable! :-)
I agree with trigirl82. Cute pumpkins but I'm voting for Obama/Biden.
It's pretty Republican around here, but every once in a while I get caught in a little mini debate with an Obama fan. I try to avoid such conversations, to each his own, but when instigated I feel the need to defend my position. That's when I try to remember all the important points Todd has made over the past few months. He is my informer you know.
Cute pumpkins, Nat. I thought you had just put up a sign in your yard and I was wondering why all the kids felt compelled to comment...then I saw the pic. You're too funny.
Walter sounds like a hoot! Loved that story. We did not have many treaters either; especially for a Friday night. Thought it would be nonstop, but no. Would love to see Walter in a costume next year. :)
