80/20

Last night my sister did a spur of the moment ultrasound at her office. Myself, my mom, my three sisters, my two nieces Katya and Kristen and my nephew Jack were all crammed in the room. I wasn't going to say anything because Rachael said she was only 80% sure, as it was still very early to tell and the umbilical cord was right there in the way. But we all thought we saw what would make it a boy. I'm very excited. Adam is unsure, but it will grow on him I know. He loves his nieces Leah and Lily so much that he feels he relates better with girls, but what he doesn't realize is a boy will benefit his agenda later in life. Just about all the vacations we take are more guy oriented. Camping, sand dunes, snowmobiling, etc. I am a little disappointed that I won't get to use the cute potter*y barn bedding I had picked out or buy cute little dresses, tights and bows; but on the bright side I will probably save money, as boy stuff is not as luring. My mom suggested the names Max and Nathan, which I really like. But I don't like "Nate" and I know his friends will call him that. Rachael said Max is a popular pet name. His middle name will likely be Adam, as that is tradition in his family. I also like the Bible names Isaac and Ezekiel. But I have to remember there is still a 20% chance this kids a girl. Maybe we will find out for sure next weekend.

Hey, Congratulations!! Boys are just as fun as girls, you can't go wrong either way, because it is YOUR child. While 80% is good, that whole umbilical cord situation would have me voting for round #2 of an ultrasound, as you get a little farther along. Either way, I'm glad you have a healthy baby. =)

Congrats on the 80% possibility of a little boy! Look at Lori's adorable son and know that soon you'll have one too.

You can buy girlie things for your nieces and have fun doing that.

As for your son, you'll have fun with Thomas the Train shopping. There are cute things for little boys and enjoy buying them when he's little.

I'm sure you will find equally cute nursery decor for a little boy.

I love the name Max. Would that be the nickname and the formal name would be Maximillian? I used to work with a man that has a Max and his formal name is Maxillian. He is adopted from Russia. Ezekiel
would be a tough name I think.

With all that Adam loves doing, he will love having a son.

I bet you had a good weekend with your family this past weekend.

Tell your MIL that I miss her blogging.

Next time you come back, we will look again, then I can give you better odds.

Boys are pretty fun to shop for too. Just so you know. :)

P.S. I think it would be really cool to do a knights and dragon theme for a little boy's room. I want to do that for Ben, but if I don't get around to it soon, he'll be too old and won't let me.

You forgot to mention that Bella and Tony were in the room too! Yes, we had TEN people in the room! LOL I'm super excited though! But then, I'd be excited if the baby were a girl too!

Hey, how come the name Catherine isn't included in this list? I vote for the name Clair out of your choices, but since it's a boy I will shoot for Riley...although Kevin is the other name I was thinking of naming Ryan...Kevin works too.

Boy or girl? It'll be a beautiful baby with you and Adam as it's parents.

How exciting! The whole family and your friends are excited for you too, as you can see.
As far as names go.. I have a few comments that may (or may not) interest you. Our first son we named Robert William.. but Bob didn't want to have him go through life being called Bobby like he was, being named after his father. So we went by his middle name and we called him Will after my grandpa. But we never heard the end of it from Bob's parents.. who hated that name because of someone they knew before.
We named our second son Nathan. Bob and I both loved the name.. but when he was born Bob started calling him Nate and I called him Nathan. Well.. he goes by Nate. All I can say is, I like it way better than Nat. lol
Our 3rd son, Micah was going to be called Mic after another grandpa but that never happened. Micah was all we ever used.
On another note.. Bob would not discuss names until after the baby was born.. since we had no clue if it was a boy or a girl. So they were always picked out quickly in the hospital room.
All in all this is what I have learned:
1. Name the baby what you and your husband both like.
2. Whatever you call him will be what he ends up going by.
3. Think about it.. would I like to be named this?
4. Whatever you name them.. you will love them so much!
