I spent the later afternoon and early evening in my driveway.

Thursday was a terribly long day. I could barely stay awake at work, so I had planned on going to bed early. Early for me is 7pm because I have to be at work by 6:30 every morning. Adam doesn't like it when I go to bed that early, but he had plans to go golfing with his friends. When I got home, I realized I had no keys to the house. Anyone who knows me at all knows that every window in my house is locked and breaking in is not going to happen unless your a professional. Adam's phone I knew was dead on the kitchen counter, my MIL was MIA, my FIL's phone was off, David's phone at least rang, but no answer of coarse, Adam's friend that he was with..Gary, his phone range too, but again no answer. No one answered at the In laws house either. So guess where I spent my evening?
After about an hour of napping in the front seat of my car in my driveway, I was woken up by annoying solicitors and Walter trying to jump through the back window of the car. (Don't forget we take Walter to work with us so I had him with me). So him and I went to McDonald's, I got an ice cream cone, Walter got a $1 dollar double cheeseburger. Then we drove to the pet store, I had to go in and buy a leash first, and then we spent about a half hour walking around the pet store, with no intentions to buy anything, but rather to kill time. I put Walt back in the car, walked into Old Navy for a few minutes and then decided Adam had to be home soon, so we headed home. When we got home, still no sign of Adam, so we took another nap. Finally, I let Walter out of the car and just sat there with the door open while Walter slept in the neighbors front yard. It was about that time that I remembered having half a muffin left from work in my cup holder. Eating always makes time go by faster, right?! Here's what was left of my muffin....

Please take note of the slobber, crumbs, and lack of muffin wrapper and muffin itself. Wonder who could have eaten that? Seems Walter ate my muffin to kill time while I was in Old Navy for all of 15 min. Adam finally got home around 9pm. You won't believe this, Adam had no keys either, so we had to drive over to his parents house, who thankfully were home by now. I didn't get to bed until after 10pm. I sat in the driveway long enough to get really mad and then also long enough to get over it. By the time I finally got into the house, I just had nothing to say... I went straight to bed. I plan on making a dozen sets of keys, maybe I will give one to everyone that knows me.

This is one of those things that I think is really funny only because it didn't happen to me! Sorry you had a crummy night.

Once when I was about 4 I followed my mom out to the mailbox, locking the front door on my way out. She had to get a neighbor to come over and break a window in the front door to get back in. I think my younger brother was inside asleep, thus the urgency.

Oh Natalie, that was so funny. It reminded me of just a few months ago when Tom and I locked ourselves out of Kathleen's house while watching Lawren. We managed to break the door down tho.
Yes, I would make several keys, you might want to keep one in your car, away from Walter. Sounds like he will eat anything LOL...muffin, wrapper and all...gotta love em.

Too funny Nat. Sorry for the chuckle at your expense! At least you had Walter to keep you company!

That is too funny. Not long ago, I found myself locked out of the house. I had been dropped off at home by the lady who I car pool with. As soon as she pulled back on to the road I realized that I had given my house key to Shannon when she was at my house at Christmas time with all good intentions of having Bob duplicate extra keys from his house key. It was dark, cold, and snowing. I was not going to sit outside until Bob came home at who knows when that night. I found one of the windows on the front porch unlocked and was able to get it open. They problem was getting through the window in a dress. I'm sure it wasn't a pretty site, and was thankful that it was dark outside and only the dogs know how funny it was and they aren't talking.

My neighbors have a set as they often take care of my dog. I suggest you also hide one on your property.

Like Rachael, I got a good chuckle out of what happened. Heck, I'm still laughing. The muffin thing is hilarious. Still laughing.....

glad you got in eventually.

I would have been so annoyed. At least you had time to get over being mad.
You didn't even try to break in?? We used to be pro's at it when we were kids, Mom and Steve couldn't keep us out of the house no matter what. Remember Steve finally caught shannon breaking in red handed and then he left the breaking in tool (I think it was a screwdriver, but not sure) in the garage to try and catch me. But she was smart enough to put it in the "wrong" place and I just knew someting wasn't right when I got there. So I paced around in the garage for about 10 minutes trying to decide what to do and then Steve opened the door!

OOH, that story Lori is talking about still gives me the creeps! Good thing we have the sister telepathy thing amongst us.

Can you imagine watching Mom crawling through a window? That made me laugh too. If I crawled through a window at home I would be freaked out once I got inside because if I got in I would be wondering who else might have gotten in.

I was a little spooked yesterday when Madeline and I came home from the park to find my front door open. Cooper is a nice dog to have around but he most certainly is not a guard dog. I am pretty sure he has some hearing loss and he hardly ever barks. He keeps us company though.

I'm sorry you had such a crappy night - but I'm comforted knowing I'm not the only one that stuff like that happens to!

I had a similar episode recently, and ended up breaking into my friend's house (with their permission) to get the spare key that they have - it was crazy.

You called me that night, but I didn't think it was going to be that kind of a night! I would think that the first time it happened, you would've learned! Either way, that's funny about Walter eating that muffin!
